             Vegemite
Developed as a by-product of the brewing process, this yeast spread is very rich in Vitamin B and many other minerals. Vegemite was first available on the shelves in 1923 and has remained an Australian icon ever since. Vegemite is a traditional gift for Australian expatriates living overseas (better check with your country’s custom requirements about bringing in foodstuffs).

Victa Mowers
Invented by Mervyn Victor Richardson in his garage in 1952. By the mid ‘90’s, there were six million Victa lawnmowers in Australia.

Voting (suffrage)
18 years and compulsory. In 1858, the Parliament granted universal male suffrage and the secret ballot. In 1893, the Electoral Act was passed giving ‘one man one vote’. Women given the right to vote in 1902. Further information
