The Sydney 2000 Olympic Arts Festival will start a month before the Opening Ceremony and will showcase the excellence of Australian and international talent. Under the artistic direction of Leo Schofield an extraordinary wealth of entertainment, concerts, dance, theatre, exhibitions and events will spill over into every corner of the Harbour city.
As the eyes of the world focus on Sydney, the work of hundreds of Australian artists in dozens of newly commissioned productions, spectacular international collaborations and major exhibitions will take centre stage during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Arts Festivals. Australia's great cultural icon, the Sydney Opera House, will be a key venue for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Arts Festival and a major focal point for entertainment during the Olympic period. Major events will be staged on the forecourt and in the Concert Hall, Drama Theatre, Opera Theatre, Studio and Playhouse of the Opera House. Other Festival venues will include Centennial Park, and some unconventional and unique new performance spaces.
